Maserati Quattroporte is a luxury sedan, the highest in the luxury chain.

Quattroporte is on the scene for a long time, since the 60s and has a lot of competition on the market. It’s not as popular in America, as it is in Europe, but it does have some fans in this part of the world.

Maserati Quattroporte is the competitor to Audi A8 W12; Bentley Continental Flying Spur; BMW 760Li; Jaguar XJR; Mercedes-Benz AMG S55, S600, AMG S65; Volkswagen Phaeton W12 and new developments which we covered here, BMW Gran Turismo, Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide.

BMW Gran Turismo is the latest BMW development which will face luxury sport sedans, Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide, Maserati Quattroporte and Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class.

So far this car is in concept stages, with no clear deadlines. We are also not aware of technical specifications nor the price tag. Guessing from the opposition, expect to find at least 400 horses, V8 and 4 liters under the hood with a price of ~$150,000+.

Below is a concept titled CS. So far it outranks(in my humble opinion) Porsche Panamera in looks, and is on equal footing in terms of charm against Aston Martin Rapide and Maserati Quattroporte. The farthest behind in looks (again in my humble opinion) is Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class.

The development of the car will be headed by M division, the sportiest of all mass produced beemers.

Munich. Gerhard judge (55), member of the management of the BMWS M GmbH, will take over the direction of the project for the new BMW Gran Turismo starting from January 2008. This vehicle became the public for the first time as Concept study on the automobile fair in Shanghai in the spring 2007 presents. It will round the BMWS off product range upward as important technology carriers. Albert Biermann (50) answered for in the future the development of the M and individual vehicles.

Aston Martin took a new direction and added a limo sedan to its line up of luxury cars. The model is called Aston Martin Rapide.

Rapide is the latest development from sport automakers which are entering sedan market. Direct competitor to Rapide is the soon-to-come Porsche Panamera.

So what’s the Rapide got in it? Lets take a look at the organs:

Engine: 6.0 L V12 Power: 480 bhp (358 kW/487 PS) 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph): 5.5 seconds - according to Wikipedia

The Rapide will use essentially the same 5,935cc V12 as the DB9. Output is expected to jump significantly, though, so expect to see the final number approaching 500 horsepower. The corporate ZF-built six-speed automatic transmission is the likely gearbox and it will send the power to the rear wheels. - Edmunds

Since it is not out yet, there’s no official specs. This predator needs no specs though.

Take a detailed look:

Aside from Porsche Panamera, Rapide will compete with BMW Gran Turismo, Audi A7 and Mercedes CLS class. All the creatures with $150,000+ price tag.

Rapide has very similar looks to its BMW contender and is by far one of the sexiest. Next time will touch new BMW Gran Turismo.
