Man by the name of Brian Scott Taulman was arrested on Monday for fooling limousine drivers for about $325.

Brian enjoyed limo services, getting stylish treatment without paying for the fun. Quite harsh on the drivers part, as guys live on the payments, shared with the company + the tips. Police says he was offered to pay to the drivers multiple times, but did not come up with cash and now faces some charges.

Though the stunt is a minor offence, we would be interested in finding out what Brian gets for fooling limo companies. I suspect there will be some community hours, mixed with a hefty fine, making those limo rides very pricey =).

The trick is quite popular with taxies. I remember having a conversation with a driver who, it turned out to be, was very worried about me not paying for the ride.(i drank some beer that night and was going from downtown). He said taxi drivers get those “pranks” time to time, as customers simply run out of the cub without paying.

Limousines are a bit different, as it takes some more guts to pull of a bigger one, but it happens.

St. Patrick’s Parade March 16th 2008

Saint Patrick’s Day is a national Irish holiday in celebration of St. Patrick. The holiday is official in Ireland and Canadian Province of Newfoundland & Labrador, while celebrated as an event throughout the world. The symbol of the St. Patrick’s celebration is shamrock, which is believed to bring good luck. The official colour of the holiday is green. Celebrants wear green hats, costumes and outfits.

The celebration includes a parade, Irish food, beer, fun and long while limos.

This parade was celebrated on March 16th in Montreal and Montreal Limousine was a lucky participant of the parade. The lineup included two of our limousines(pics below): Lincoln Navigator and Lincoln Towncar. Both were dressed up for occasion with green decorations as they rolled up in down down Montreal to cheering crowds. We captured some pictures from the inside.

Who Invented a Limousine?

After some research I was not able to find the roots of this invention. Here’s my shot at how they got invented, from chunks of information gathered at different sources

It seems there was no sole inventor and the idea developed itself, as first car carriers services wanted to differentiate.

First limos were regular sedans used to transport the rich and the wealthy. A couple of models were made longer than usual in order to have more space. As the time went on making longer models became standard, hence first limos were being born.

As time went by transport companies wanted to take the experience to the new level. My guess would be, one guy had a bright idea of making vehicles extra long - to give more charm to the passengers. Everyone picked up on it later on.

It seems logical, because good ideas are usually seeded by one person, through many sources. As it becomes more acceptable, the source itself becomes irrelevant, so is our unfortunate inventor of a limousine.

Bloomberg ordered a pact projecting that by the year 2012 all New York limousines will run on fuel efficient engines.

“The plans would require the city’s so-called black cars to meet fuel efficiency standards of 9.4 liters per 100 kilometers (25 miles per gallon) in 2009 and 7.8 l/100 km (30 mpg) in 2010.” - Google News

He plans to upgrade New York limo fleet to partially battery powered engines, which work on electricity and gas.

Virgin Atlantic, the mega empire of self made British billionaire has also announced it will run it’s airport limousines on hydrogen fuel-cell engines. Virgin Atlantic also flew the first biofuel Boeing 747.

So far the change to green power has been largely blocked by mega oil corporate forces and is headed to the mix of oil+electricity in order to keep the oil in the game.

Over the last decade an enormous number of cheap, green and efficient fuel sources were developed, some of which include hemp, water(that’s right water) and numerous plants.

Dan Cawley, owner of the only Ferrari limo is being ordered by Ferrari to take off all Ferrari badges and other symbols referring to “Ferrari” from his high powered Ferrari Limo.

Since most limosuines are custom made, by private firms, Ferrari wants it’s brand taken off the modified $200.000 baby or proceed with legal action. This is somewhat foolish move by Ferrari. Why the need? As cited in Daily Mail:

“We built this as a supercar for the masses, so ordinary people could get the chance to have a ride in something they’d normally only dream of. Now that opportunity could be snatched away from them. I’m not being bullied into this. We have to fight on behalf of all limo builders and car tuners out there.”

I agree, what is the problem? It seems as though Ferarri lawyers are a little bit bored, or maybe need something to show for it to stay employed?
